The six super8 films
you see below are still available. Kodak still continues
to produce new and fresh super8 cartridges! All the stories that you can read on the internet that super8 is outdated and out of fashion is not true. Many regular photo shops stopped selling super8 because the majority of the people switched to digital video. Now these photo shops say that s8 is dead but they are wrong. We know better! Read here the Kodak super8 pages.
Kodak introduced two new black/white super8 films that take over the Tri-X and Plus-X film types in 2004. [more here]. That's not all. The new color negative emulsion Vision-2 series was also cut for the super8 cartridges. This shows very clearly that the major company from Rochester USA believes that super8 is a valuable film format for the future. The Vision-2 200T and the Vision-2 500T are available at this moment and we can also process it as the only lab in The Netherlands.
Kodachrome stops, new 64T Ektachrome comes
From now on there is Ektachrome 64T that has 'replaced' Kodachrome K40 completely. Kodak's Kodachrome K40 film has died sadly after 40 years. This lab can not K40 rolls anymore. It's sad that K40 had to end. Read an article in the New York Times here. Read more about the pro's and cons between 64T/K40 on the forum read discussions.
WittnerChrome 100D
Besides 6 original Kodak manufactored super8 films the lab also sells WittnerChrome 100D super8 films. These films are produces by a German company called Wittner Cinetec. This film contains a Kodak filmemulsion type 7285. Therefore the lab has added this film to the 'Kodak s8 films page'...
Advise. In general I would like to give some comment about film exposure. If you want a good result do not underexpose or overexpose super8 films. It is very difficult [impossible] to fix exposure mistakes in the post production. If you shoot on reversal film stock complete black and complete white means that there is no information at all on your emulsion. So you can not fix it when you scan the material.
There is the possibility to get the films push/pull processed by this lab. Although this is free of charge I can not recommend it. One thing that can happen is that not all the rolls are exactly the same after a push/pull process. Also you are changing the grain of the material. Underexposed film get a higher contrast and overexposed films will become more grey and get a lower contrast. In all situations you'll get a different filmlook.
